NINES and the Rossetti Archive
a networked infrastructure for 19th-century studies
T HE Rossetti Archive has been the principal testbed for the development of the NINES project (a Networked Infrastructure for Nineteenth-century Electronic Scholarship). NINES is an open source, distributed aggregation of peer-reviewed online scholarly work on nineteenth-century British and American literature and culture.
The depth and range of the Rossetti Archive's datasets have been important for designing both the NINES interface and the special tools made available through NINES, including IVANHOE, Juxta, and Collex. The Archive has also served as the primary example for testing the stability of the NINES software in the initial stages of its implementation.
