Scholarly Commentary

Introduction

On verso of another sketch of Elizabeth Siddal, WMR's inscription appears: “2 Portraits of Lizzie Siddal, the one dated 21/nov. 55 must have been taken just as she was letting off from Nice. The other also may belong to 1855.” This is the second portrait referred to in that note.
