Production History

WMR's Ruskin, Rossetti, Preraphaelitism prints an October, 1855 letter from Ruskin to DGR: “Please oblige me in two matters or you will make me ill again. Take all the pure green out of the flesh in the Nativity I send, and try to get it a little less like worsted-work by Wednesday, when I will send for it. I want the Archdeacon of Salop, who is coming for some practical talk over religious art for the multitude, to see it.” See also Doughty and Wahl, Letters, 26 as well as Troxell, Three Rossettis, 28-29.
