Introduction
This chalk drawing of the artist's sister and mother was completed during DGR's stay at Hunter's Forestall, Kent, in 1877. Two other portraits of Christina also date from this period, one in three-quarter profile and the other facing toward the viewer. See also the commentary for the pencil drawing of 1846.
DGR made this double portrait at the same time that he did the coloured chalk portrait of his mother.
