Pictorial
This portrait is one of several completed during the artist's recuperative stay at Hunter's Forestall, on the Kent coast, in 1877. Most were family portraits, including one of his mother, two of his sister, and a double portrait featuring both Christina and Mrs. Rossetti. The companion portrait to this work is almost identical in colouring and format, with slight changes in the sitter's position.
