Introduction
This is one of severel drawings made by DGR and his friends on 12 April 1853 to be sent to Thomas Woolner in Australia. For a full account of the drawing party that DGR arranged see Ormond's essay. Drawings made at the party were sent in a letter to Woolner of 16 April 1853 (see Fredeman, Correspondence, 53. 23 ). Two other drawings by DGR (uncatalogued by Surtees) were sent to Woolner in an earlier letter on 1 January 1853 (see Fredeman, Correspondence, 53. 1 ). The latter are sketches of WMR and Woolner, respectively: William Asleep and The Fire Fiend
