Introduction
In The Roseleaf, DGR envisions Jane Burden Morris as the pensive, enigmatic figure of contemporaneous pictures like Perlascura and Reverie. This portrait is influenced by the series of photographs taken by John Parsons, for which DGR thoughtfully positioned Jane. In the photographs, her hair-style and dress are nearly identical to that in this drawing.
