Introduction
“Marillier describes this picture as a half-figure of a woman at her toilet, modelled upon Morning Music” (Surtees, A Catalogue Raisonné, vol. 1, 116 (no. 202)).
DGR has a notebook entry that may be relevant to this picture and a related one he may have projected for the mythical Aura figure. Both Aura and Aurora incurred the wrath of Aphrodite, who drove the first mad and turned the second into a nymphomaniac.
