Scholarly Commentary

Introduction

Sketch of the head of a young man with medium length curling hair and trimmed beard. His head is inclined to his right, eyes looking to the left. The face is the most highly finished, executed in darker lines. The hair, neck and shoulders are sketchy, with the hair designated by long looping lines and broad cross-hatches.
