In the the 10 May 1851 issue of The Spectator, WMR reviewed the current exhibition at the Royal Academy. As with his reviews of the previous year in The Critic, however, he let his brother write some of the specific reviews—in this case, the notice of Ford Madox Brown's important painting Geoffrey Chaucer Reading the Legend of Custance to Edward III.
