Introduction
The poem is most important for DGR because he extracts a passage from it for the epigraph to his brilliant fictional manifesto “Hand and Soul”.
Although the poem is assigned to Bonaggiunta in Poeti del Primo Secolo, which was DGR's source text for his translation, no authoritative editor has subsequently included the canzonetta in the poet's corpus.
For commentary on Bonaggiunta see the general Introduction to “Gioia, nè ben non è senza conforto”.
