Poeti del Primo Secolo text
Scholarly Commentary
Introduction
DGR's source text was Poeti del Primo Secolo (II. 76-78), where the poem is assigned to Amorozzo da Firenze. The work is probably Carnino's, a fact which DGR could only have known by consulting the scholarly discussion of the poem's manuscript tradition.
The metrical form of the poem in the version used by DGR is corrupt. The poem comprises five stanzas of twelve lines, each composed of two equal piedi (ABC) and a sirma, incantenata (CDeeDC). For further commentary see DGR's translation.
