Scholarly Commentary
Introduction
The manuscript is among a cache of materials originally in the possession of WMR and after that of John Robert Wahl. They finally passed into the library of the South African National Gallery. The recto has the sonnet “Meglio so cavezzar in su d 'un letto”, the translation of which was eventually removed from his 1861 collection; and the verso has a copy of the sonnet “Babbo, Bichina, Amore, e mia Madre”, which DGR also translated and did publish in The Early Italian Poets .
