Poems. A New Edition (1881), proof Signature P (Delaware Museum, second revise proof).

This proof represents an odd intermediate state of the proofs of Signature P of the 1881 Poems . It carries the corrections on pages 220 and 224 made in the earliest surviving proof, but it also shows a correction on page 220 that was not needed in the earlier proof. This correction is, however, signaled in the latter proof with a note by DGR indicating that he was aware of it.

Seven copies of this proof signature are preserved in the library of the Delaware Art Museum. They include the earliest author's proof and its uncorrected printer's duplicate, this second revise, and four copies of the final proof, all uncorrected: copy 1, copy 2, copy 3 (partial), and copy 4.
