This epigram was first published by WMR in his 1911 edition, who dated it 1866, no doubt because DGR spent a few nights there around 12-15 October 1866 (see his letters to his mother and his brother,

). DGR may well have sent the lines in his letter to his brother, though the manuscript has not appeared and is not preseved with the manuscript of the letter in the New York Public Library.
