Introduction
This copy contains six wash drawings made by DGR (drawn on pages 12, 15, 18, 21, 26, and 29). These probably represent the first of a longer set of illustrative drawings that DGR originally intended for inclusion in his book, but which were rejected by the publisher as too expensive to produce. For whom DGR made this interesting copy is not known.
The illustrated edition DGR wanted would also have featured an illuminated title page made from a woodcut that DGR designed for the book. This also was rejected by the publisher.
