Note on Typography: The first letter in the first line of each major section of the
book (the Preface, Table of Contents, Table of Poets in Part I,

Part II, and Index) is a drop capital, as is the first letter of
each poem (except those contained within the Vita Nuova and the
Appendix to Part II). This results in the following line's
indentation being always displaced slightly to the right.

Scholarly Commentary
Introduction
This interesting copy, originally in the library of Mark Samuels Lasner, has a few minor pencil corrections, possibly by DGR. The description on the inside front cover of the inscription on the half-title suggests the latter is in DGR's hand, but it is probably not.
